YOUR NETWORTH : THE PSYCHOLOGY OF THE PAY CHECK

As an employee, the idea of a pay check at the end of the month puts you in a value box.  You may be lucky to be in the top value, or unfortunate to be amongst the bottom value based on ‘Subjective Negotiation’.

Your satisfaction in work and life largely depends on your perception of your pay check, and you start believing that is all you are WORTH.

George never took time to establish his ‘real’ NETWORTH, and found it difficult to earn more despite his many qualifications.

Whether you are negotiating a new wage, an increase,  or quoting for your services,  you gain satisfaction when you negotiate base on your ‘Networth’. Your  Networth helps to ensure that you do not under-price or over–price your self. It’s not about calling a figure or ‘psyching’ your self, it’s about understanding why you should be paid a certain amount.

Your NETWORTH can be computed using a  number of criteria such as – your educational background, personality, soft skills, etc. These are criteria employers use to minimise the amounts paid as salaries.

Below is a typical example of a college graduate NETWORTH

THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS IN YOUR LIFE! ( THE MYB ™ SERIES )

If you are 18 years or older, there are two important documents you will need during your lifetime.  The first is your international passport.

The second most important document you need in your life is – your Tax Clearance Certificate  (TCC).  This is your ‘Tax Passport’.

A Tax Clearance Certificate ( Tax Passport) is a document issued when you pay your tax to the Government. It makes you a bonafide member of the society and gives you the right to demand good governance and amenities from the government.

Not paying tax makes you an illegal member of the society and can result in criminal charges against you.

Whether you are self employed or own a business,  it’s your duty to make tax payments at the end of each year.   If you are an employee,  ensure that your employer has been remitting all taxes deducted from your salary especially as the year end draws near.

As a self employed business owner or as an employee, there are  certain tax – free deduction you can enjoy on your earnings.   It’s your net earning that should be taxed.   To avoid a wrong tax computation and enjoy the available tax – free deduction on your earnings, please seek the help of a finance expert.

I remain passionately committed to your success!

HANDLING NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN BUSINESS (THE MINDING YOUR BIZ MYB™ SERIES)

During the early stage of business, there will be excitement and the temptation to do many things at once.  Try to contain it so your enthusiasm does not burn out fast.  Let go of distracting ‘great’ ideas so you can focus on the purpose of your business.  Better still, you can store in an ‘idea bank’ where you can go back to them later.

Trust yourself sometimes and don’t at other times.  It’s healthy for you and your business.  Be ready for opportunities.  You can adopt the IUF™ approach.

(I)GNORE – totally unrelated opportunities.  These will waste your time & resources.  It may appear attractive, but it will not help or be useful to you or your business in the long term.

(U)SE NOW – those opportunities which are usually one-offs but related to your long term vision/goal.

(F)OCUS ON – those opportunities related to your long term vision.

Pursue pragmatic education that places emphasis on practice and simplicity.  This means you are learning and applying it in your business at the same time.

Don’t stop learning, growing, and innovating. Your business depends on it.

Let’s talk

-----------------------------------------------------------------

How are you minding your business today? Managing your finances is key to succeeding in your business.  Let me help you manage your business finance so you can focus on your business.

ITS TIME TO MIND YOUR BUSINESS! (Part 1)

Hello!  Happy new to you!!  Hope you are still feeling new? Guess what?????  We are starting the year by minding the business that is ‘YOU’.  Yes, ‘YOU’; because you are a business of such potential magnitude that you can’t afford to let things just happen by chance.

YOU
Your personal attitude can affect the outcome of this year for you as an individual and even in business.
Convince yourself again about your life’s purpose: what do you really want from life?  How does your personality work with this, is there a conflict or are both in harmony? Your goal should be to keep developing your strengths and not wear yourself out doing too much or too little.

YOUR FINANCES
If you are unable to manage your personal funds adequately, chances are you are likely to be unable to manage your business money.  ‘Being poor is not just a mindset; it’s an attitude and a lifestyle.’
Focus more on ‘resourcefulness’. ‘Resources may increase your current income, but resourcefulness will create an unending stream of WEALTH’.  Apple started out not resource focus but on being resourceful.  Today Apple is renowned not for its resources but for its resourcefulness (innovation).

Be open to learning and trying new ideas.  Start where your strength lies.  The good news is that whether you decide to quit your job to start a business or stay put, you can still make more money.  You can be an investor, partner, affiliate, etc.

So, are you as passionate as I am for great chances in your finances?  Then join me for my next article – ITS TIME TO MIND YOUR BUSINESS (Part 2).

Till next time,

Remember – information remains the new currency!

PS.
This article is for you and someone else.  Remember part of your life goal should be to give and share with others.  Share your resourcefulness with someone else by sharing this article.  Let us help make 2015 a year of great financial success for us and those we care about.  Please share.

THAT SPECIAL GIFT!!!!

What makes giving special?

First, the intention TO GIVE, and then the thought put into the giving process.

You give not because you have too much; but because you are grateful for what you have. There can be no better way of expressing gratitude than by giving.

HEALTH IS PRICELESS!
And so today, as I promised... consider this - Giving a gift of HEALTH.

Health is priceless! Have you ever felt sick, really sick? Then you know what it means to be hale & healthy. There are a number of persons willing to give anything to be healthy. Why not give someone this gift this season?

'I can't afford it', may be your response, but you will be amazed to find that you can by taking extra steps to inquire. Let me give you an example. Not so long ago, I discovered that with N15,000 (less than $ 90) you can get a full year health plan. And yes, it includes benefits like consultations, drugs, maternity, tests, etc. I know it, I have seen it and have been a part of it.

So why not give something different, something that the giver will not be able to repay back - the gift of a full year health benefit.

Are you interested? Send me a mail - kleanwash@gmail.com for more information.

Till next time,

Remember – information remains the new currency.
HAPPY HOLIDAY!

PLEASE READ!!!!!

During the holiday period, there is a tendency to over indulge. Here are some expert tips.

1) Think quality not quantity. Instead of buying a cheap gift that may not be appreciated, invest in a Card - that has a well crafted & heartfelt message (words that hug you like a duvet!).

2) Plan your spending. Draw up a list of the things you are buying. Go to the market, mall with this list to reduce the temptation to over spend!

THANKSGIVING, C.S.R AND P.S.R

In my last article, I encouraged you to do something for an existing or potential prospect. Today, I want to talk about giving as a form of thanksgiving.

When businesses, corporations give, it is called Corporate Social Responsibility (C.S.R). When individuals give, it is called Personal Social Responsibility (P.S.R). Being responsible as a business or an individual is also thanksgiving.

As Americans celebrate thanksgiving (4th Thursday in November), they remind us that we have something to be thankful for. Look back over the past months and tell me just one thing you are thankful for (please… do add it as a comment).

So in the spirit of thanksgiving, do something for someone during the holiday period.

In my next article, I will be sharing one of the many ways you can give thanks as a business (CSR) or as an individual (PSR).

Till next time,

Remember – information remains the new currency.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

P.S – don’t forget to comment on what you are thankful for!

YOU CAN STILL W-I-N!

Everyone’s goal in life is to win. It’s perfectly normal to win some and lose some, unless you are not being true to yourself.

Do you have a hectic work schedule? Have you been trying to save up some money to start a business? Are you dealing with declining profits? Don’t worry, you are about to boost your chances!

As the holidays draw near, how do you create a WIN-WIN situation in business, your personal life or job??????????????????

DO S-O-M-E-T-H-I-N-G BIG FOR SOMEONE!

For a BUSINESS - Buy a unique gift for each customer. Forget about the branded mugs, jotters, pens, etc. get a real personal and special gift. For example – buy a bouquet of flowers for a female customer with a note attached – ‘From Company A. we love you’. Or you can do something obvious for your community; plan a Christmas visit to an orphanage, or show massive support for a local initiative.

For an INDIVIDUAL – Are you thinking of starting a business with a friend, a colleague? Then buy an interesting book on the subject matter. For example a book on ‘great partnership’. Remember to include your name and a heartfelt message. Also, remember your boss. Please get something for the big man!

A WIN-WIN

In the end, you make someone feel appreciated and boost your chances in work, greater business patronage or business opportunity.
So get going for “your position determines your attraction”.

This will create more rewarding and earning opportunities in the coming year.

Till next time,

Remember – Information is the new currency!

BE E-F-F-I-C-E-N-T WHILE YOU W-A-I-T

Have you found this frustrating?

Waiting for the kettle to boil? Waiting for the end of the month to settle certain bills? Waiting to hear from a prospective employer? Waiting for the bank to approval your business loan? Waiting for customers to place orders? Waiting for someone to follow you on twitter; like your facebook page or add a comment? The list is endless!

Waiting doesn’t have to be frustrating. It is not a waste of time. When you utilize the waiting period, you gain efficiency; you improve on your learning curve.

Explore these tips.

For a Business - use the waiting period to review your strategies and goals. Are your closest pals willing to patronize you? Get information from similar businesses with better performances.

For an individual – use the periods to search for alternative sources of income. It can be a part time job, partnership, a startup or even volunteering! So turn those frustrating periods each day into rewarding opportunities.

“YOU CAN; YOU WILL; LIFE CAN BE BETTER FOR YOU”!

Till next time,

Remember – ‘information (what you know & don’t know) is the new currency’
